An exciting new opportunity has arisen with Samphire to build on and develop the successful awareness-raising that we have undertaken to date on issues relating to migration, and take it to the next level.
The Community Engagement Coordinator will develop links with local schools and community groups to reach out to young people and migrant families, and provide positive opportunities for mixing with the settled population, that values the cultures of both. Through myth-busting and community-building events, they will contribute to a better informed, more culturally aware and cohesive Dover.
This position is for a fixed term of one year, with the possibility of extension contingent on funding.

NJC salary scale points NJC points 26-29 (£23,398 to £25,951) Part-time,18 hours per week
This is a multi-functional role which involves engaging with all elements of the local community in a variety of ways, developing networks, managing and recruiting volunteers, undertaking awareness raising activities including social and conventional media, contributing to policy and advocacy, monitoring and project planning.
- The successful applicant will be educated to degree level OR have equivalent work experience;
- They will be energetic, resourceful, self-motivated and an excellent communicator;
- They will have at least 1 years’ experience working in the voluntary sector with in a related field – community development, social exclusion, migrants rights or work with similarly marginalised groups;
- This post requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
