What we do

Advise – We operate a telephone help line for ex-detainees to call for advice and support about their situation. (For example, to deal with urgent issues of homelessness and destitution, provide an understanding of their entitlement to asylum support, and to provide emotional and on-going casework support.)

Enable – We enable ex-detainees to access essential services such as legal representation, health-care and welfare support in their local areas. (By providing information about those services, signposting and referring to them and, when necessary, providing the means and opportunity for ex-detainees to access them.)

Empower – We empower ex-detainees to make changes that will improve their lives and impact positively their local communities. (For example, through accessing local help organisations, referrals to volunteering, education and awareness-raising opportunities.)

Influence – Our policy work seeks to influence the wider debate about migration and related issues to improve conditions for our client group. (For example, through advocating for improved asylum support conditions and permission to work for those awaiting a decision or those who cannot be returned to their countries.)
